The island has about 100 climbing routes and the goal is to exceed 400 in the next two years.
The most important climbing areas are located in the following areas:
1) Kyra Panagia – Here there are already about 50 climbing routes. The rocks are among the best on the island, and the location is privileged, next to the sea, with easy access, ready tourist infrastructure and a short distance from Pigadia.
2) Apella – Here there are already 30 climbing routes. The area has the best rocks for climbing in Karpathos, in one of the most beautiful and wildest landscapes of the island. The nearby beach is an additional positive element, as well as the easy access (by asphalt to the beach, and from there by a passable path to the rocks).
3) Permit – There are already 20 climbing routes here. The gorge of Flaskia behind Adia beach can become the most popular climbing area on the island, and one of the best in Greece. Its rocks are of top quality, the surface of the crag is very large, the landscape is particularly beautiful, and access is very easy, with an asphalt road.
Many climbing spots are very close to the sea. A dip in the warm sea after climbing is a real compensation.
