Othos is often lost in the clouds, as it is the highest village of Karpathos, with an altitude of 510 meters.

This makes its amphitheatrically built houses have panoramic views.

Traditional houses can be found in all villages, but here visitors can admire the pebbled floors, wooden carved sofas, weavings, embroideries and other ornaments at their leisure, as one of these houses serves as a museum.

In Othos it is worth visiting the woodcarving workshop where the famous lyre of Karpathos and other elaborate woodcarved objects are made. The island figure the late Yannis Hapsis “mantinadoros and lyre maker” may no longer exist, but it is worth looking for some of the paintings he made in his old age, priceless as folk art of Karpathos.

In Othos belong the Estes, an area of orchards and water.
